As I continue my quest as the un-official veto ambassador of good will, I have to share an interesting story. A good friend, former customer, and now, somtimes subcontractor, and I worked together on Friday drywalling a bathroom that I am doing. He showed up Fri A.M. to help me. After checking out the job, we both got to work.

"Do you have a utility knife?" Yeah, in the bag...... "You got a jab saw? Yeah, in the bag....... "You got a rasp?"....... Yes, it is in the freakin' bag with all the rest of the stuff we need..... and so it went. I went to the truck twice. once to get the bag, the nest time to get the vacuum, since you guys don't make a bag yet for vacuums.

So, at the end of the day, as we were cleaning up, hey was helping me put all the tools, drywall cut-offs etc away, he gathered up all of the previously mentioned items, and sat them next to my LC bag. I believe that as an experienced craftsman, he did not put the tools back in, since he knows that most of us have a place dedicated to each item. I did have to give him credit for that.

Here lies the rub. He said, "I'm not going to touch your "Purse." At that point I had to bite my tongue, since he was wrong on so many levels. Why was he working for me when he is light years more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to the trades? It all comes down to organization. My tools are organized in the bag. My laptop bag, in the truck, has the file, all the stuff that applies to this job, as well as any info that could be of need for me that day.

My phone wrang maybe three times Friday. Each time I went to the truck, yanked the folder from the bag, pulled the info, did the deal and went from there. His phone wrang, and he did not have the answers, since his stuff was not neatly organized in his "purse." Who do you think made more money in 2011? Unfortunately, for him, I know I did better.

You know, us guys who take the time to organize waste less time, do more, and can speak to our colleagues without having to access info and then call back. It's all there in our"Purses". Somehow I think you already knew that. I just wanted to share my experiences, since I think you guys have a lot to do with my success. I still have to pat myself on the back, since I had the brains to buy the best!

A year ago, I got bit by the Veto bug, thanks to the posts here. I checked the Veto web site and decided I wanted to get an LC bag to use for my primary tool carrier. While perusing the features my girlfriend noticed me scanning the net, and never said a word. We live in a pretty isolated area, and have an HD about 15 miles away in an adjoining state. It's three years old, and I think I've been through the doors less than a dozen times. Other than HD, there aren't any other big box stores here, and all of our parts vendors for HVAC & Refer stuff are 120 miles away. We have a combination Marine and Industrial supply here that caters primarily to the Commercial Fishing trade, and carries some items that I use from time to time. Oh yeah, the other items they carry are sports fishing equipment and tackle and of course boat gear. (my two other weaknesses) On one of my visits to the store I casually mentioned Veto, and the counter guy takes me to a shelf where they had a pretty decent array of the Veto line. I got out of there with a new L/C, and was really happy with my purchase. Spent half a Sunday swapping from my open CLC bag to the L/C. I used the L/C for about three weeks, and was adapting to it, when my birthday comes up, and my girlfriend gives me a big box all gift wrapped with an XL in it. She had ordered it through the internet. Wow! Now I'm the proud owner of two! A couple of weeks ago, Veto sends me an email telling me about the virtues of the new TP and MB bags that are out in the market. I'm interested, so I call my industrial supply place across the river and ask them about price and availability. They'll call me back. Couple days later, the guy calls me and says they can get the bags, but because Veto will only sell them in case lots, they can't order them for me. I thank him for his effort, and suggest I'll try to find them elsewhere. Now I'm on a mission! I fire off an email to Veto, and get a response telling me to call Jill at their office. Jill tells me to get in touch with Jason Gould at Ace Tool. Somewhere on the East coast. I call Ace and they assure me that they have them in stock, and can ship them "today". Order them up, and watch the tracking on the UPS site. Hmmm. Due here on the 19th of December.
On the morning of the 19th, I needed some bearings to rebuild a pump motor. Headed down to the Marine and Industrial Supply to get them ordered up. When I walk in the door, the counter guy comes to wait on me with a brown paper bag, and sits it on the counter. It has my name on it, and is stapled shut. "Whats this?" "I dunno, something you ordered." Open the bag, and there are the TP and MB bags that I'd asked about. Get my biz done. jump in the truck and head for the shop. UPS is just pulling up as I arrive too. one parcel today,,two more bags. I seriously thought about keeping both orders, but thought that when the bill came in the mail, there would be a heated discussion about how many $50 tool bags I needed. I bit the bullet and phoned Jason at Ace and explained what had taken place. As I hadn't even opened the box, he was gracious enough to accept me returning tha bags that I ordered from him.
Ace tools is a class act, and in the future, anything I'm looking for in the way of tools, will be ordered through this company. And as usual, my only hope is when I die, I hope my wife doesn't sell my tools and tackle for what I told her I paid for them.

I am currently in the market for a laptop/tool bag. I work for Geek Squad and do computer and home theater installation and repair. I usually go through 1-2 bags a year because they either rip or just aren't functional enough. I need to be able to carry my laptop and computer cables and adapters along with my basic tools for home theater installation. Right now I usually use between 2-3 bags for carrying my laptop and various tools. When I saw your preview of the laptop XLT bag I was so excited as I may have actually found a bag to keep my laptop and all of my computer and home theater tools all in one bag that looks very durable. The only problem is it looks like it currently not out yet. Hopefully it will be out before Christmas as it would make a great gift for myself. Bags for hunting would be great too. Both ammo bags that would basically be any of your existing bags with larger pockets for boxes of shotgun shells or rifle ammo. Even better would be backpacks that you could strap a gun or bow to. It would need a decent size main compartment but more important would be lots of smaller pockets for individual storage. I have tried to buy a good waterproof hunting bag the last couple years and I end up settling for crap because nothing at cabelas or gander mountain is worth even half of what they cost. When I was a kid, around 4 years old, my dad and I did a project together building a small wood tool box for me to put all of my tools in. At that time, my tools consisted of a hammer, a set of small screwdrivers, and some old wrenches my grandfather had given me. I don’t know if it was a gene I was born with, or maybe it stemmed from that moment, but as far back as I can remember I have loved tools and tool boxes.
When I was in my early twenties, I was hired into a job doing antenna installations in northern Michigan. While over the first twenty years of my life I had accumulated quite a selection of tools, the majority of them were either too old or unrelated to my new job. I needed to get all new tools as well as a tool box to house them. I went to my local hardware store and loaded up on everything I needed for my new profession including a simple bright yellow plastic tool box. This was a simple tool box that had a hinged top with a tray underneath for smaller tools. While the yellow tool box did do a decent job of storing the tools, finding the one you needed on a job site required either lots of digging, or dumping out my tool box into the bottom of the work truck.
From that simple little yellow tool box stemmed the search for the perfect portable tool storage. I spent the next 15 years looking for the perfect tool bag. On average, I would buy at least one new bag every couple of months. Even if I found one that did a good job of organizing my tools, it normally didn’t last too long because of the quality of the bag.
Enter the Veto Pro Pac Tool bag. The name Veto Pro Pac came from the concept behind the way their tool bags store the tools “Vertical Tool Organization Protected and Packed.“ The founder of the Veto Pro Pac , Roger Brouard, was a carpenter for over 25 years who got tired of doing the “Dig or Dump.” Over his later years in the field, Roger had been designing make-shift tool bags, trying find something that allowed him to work more efficiently. The guys over at Veto Pro Pac have actually posted numerous videos of their bags being used and abused; even lit on fire. The purpose of these videos? No matter what abuse they put the bag through, they unzip the side and the tools are unscathed. The construction is just the first half of the WOW factor the Veto Pro Pac bags offer. The design of the internal compartments is genius. As the original name suggests, the tools are stored vertically. When I personally go to use my tools, I unzip the side of my XL bag and can see every single tool in there. All tools are easily accessible and in my bag have their one specific spot. When I am done with the tool it goes right back where I got it from. Imagine how much time you would save on a daily basis if every single tool you used was in the same spot when you went to grab it; no more “Dig or Dump.”
On all the Veto Pro Pac closed top bags, they offer two zippered sides. The LC and XL models have two identical sides, where the XXL has one side with no pouches for carpenters with levels and other longer tools. The zippered sides are fantastic if you either drive like Dale Earnhardt Jr, or your bags just naturally tip over while you are driving. The zippered sides of the tool bag keep every single tool in place whether the bag is on its side or flying through the air. There is a great video on YouTube of Veto Pro Pac’s founder Roger tossing the tool bag to show this exact thing.
Most people get sticker shock when they see the price of the Veto Pro Pac line. If you are a professional, take a second to think about the number of tool bags you have bought in the past 5 years alone. How much would that add up to? For most, you could buy a Veto Pro Pac for every member of your family for that amount of money. As the abusive testing videos from above show, this bag is designed to last a really long time. The only other complaint I hear from some people is that the bag is “too heavy.” This one always makes me laugh. Because of the quality of materials Veto Pro Pac uses, and the intelligent use of space allowing for lots of tools, yes, it is heavy. My XL bag which is the mid-sized one weighs in at 45lbs. Veto Pro Pac has truly created the perfect tool bag. As I sit here and write this, in an attempt to be completely objective, I’m trying to think about the things I don’t like. I can’t think of a single one.

They've all, at some point, done reviews on the Veto products which I've seen and kept in mind. Other more common brands such as DeWalt and Makita just don't seem to have the same level of thought put into their gear for hand-tools, which naturally are more focused around Powertools.

I normally keep all my tools in my van, but recently jumping from van to workshop to different van, I knew I needed a quality, simple, easy solution to bringing my gear with me.

TheToolBloke was very easy to deal with, the purchasing was simple and quick. Good dealer for your product.

I went for both the OT-XL and XL on a purely "what-if" basis of possibly needing the benefits of both designs at some point. The closed top is great for keeping things in, but the open top is great for quick access to tools and can function as a 'carry-all'.

Besides, with the weight I'll probably be loading these up with, I may need to carry both just to keep me walking straight =)

I buy based on function, purpose, and usability. If a product serves its purpose well, sticks to it's original idea without branching into gimmicks, and has a range to suit my needs, I'll buy it. Regardless of weather it costs $2 or $500. "Poor man pays twice" - Buy the right thing once, never need to buy again.

I saw the youtube video for the laptop bag a couple of weeks ago, and I think it looks like a brilliant idea.

I do use a laptop from time to time in my job, in remote areas to access our locksmithing key-code software, but also to programme and service electronic access systems (swipe-card locks, etc).

I think it's a really good idea, offering one side of the bag to be used for an alternative purpose. I also like the XXL-F's design that has one side for tools, the other being more open and free for whatever the end user needs to carry. In my trade, I may not have 67 handtools to fill my XL, but I could see a benefit in having one side a little more open, and I could fill that with larger, odd-shaped implements. "

"I work for a small HVAC company in CT. I do both install and service work and as such I have more than one tool bag. I bought the XXL-F for installs, as I plan to keep all of my sheet metal tools and my drill inside of it. I also bought the OT-XL however I will receive that bag in the mail tomorrow. The open top bag is for my service tools. I could have used a closed top bag as I often have to face rain however I decided with the open top design.

I graduated a technical high school for this trade, and I noticed one of my class mates had your closed top XL bag. That was years ago, and when I was shopping for a new tool bag on Amazon (ranked from highest rated to least rated) I noticed the bag again. Cleaning Your Veto Pro Pac Tool Bag

I have a Veto Pro Pac OT-XL and it is quite dirty and I'd like to clean it up. I take much pride in my tools. None of the materials or sewing is damaged, but just quite dirty from being used a lot in the field. My first step was to thoroughly air-hose it. Now I'm ready to actually clean the materials.

What kinds/brands of cleaners (please be specific) do you recommend for each of the materials? I don't want to accidentally use something that might melt/soften or dry out and crack any of the materials. I have plans to use this for a long time.

Any help/suggestions you might have would be most appreciated.

As far as cleaning goes, using an air hose would be the first step to get rid of the dust. After getting rid of the dust, any cleaning of the fabric or leather could be done with a nylon scrubber and detergent, and then let it air dry after that. For real tough issues like imbedded caulk and paint, try Goo Be Gone in small amounts and then wash affected areas. Some things my not come out based on how bad they are. A little common cleaning sense should be applied over all for best results.

"I am writing this as my driver is taking me through the chaotic streets of Morocco using my wifi on my laptop. I have my Veto Pro Pac LC tool bag in the back seat behind me. I never go anywhere job wise without it. I am ...basically Joe the plumber for Diplomatic Security; This includes x-ray machine, explosive detectors, security cameras, high security vaults, hard-line ballistic doors etc, and much more that I am not at liberty to talk about.
I do a lot of traveling, and I am responsible for many types of equipment. This is where my Veto Pro LC comes in. It is absolutely vital that I have all the tools I need to work with when I arrive at an embassy. I have spent considerable amount of money and time trying find an efficient system for my tools. Historically, before my Veto Pro Pac LC days, I would come onsite for a job and I would have my Sears Craftsman professional tool bag crammed with more tools than I know what to with. I was constantly digging through the bag to find a specific tool. 99% of the time, I would find it at the very bottom of the bag. I went through the trouble of taking pictures of my tools and put them in numbered canvas bags and set up picture catalog of what's in each bag! That worked ok, but I would still have to yanks those bags out of the tool bag and go through the picture catalog to see what's what in each bag. At the end of the day, I would still wind up with tools missing or mixed up in other bags. My system just was not working well for me.
It was a technician at the embassy in Eastern Europewho turned me on to Veto Pro Pac. I checked it out on the internet and immediately ordered the bag. He use to evaluate new systems and equipment. I plan to show him how well these bags work.
Maybe in the near future, new techs will be issued these bags instead of these big bulky pelican type cases we issued."

I unpacked the bag and the presentation was pretty interesting and actually rather neat. Having the one side folded down was I'm sure visually appealing, but for me it was just the extra touch, which made the unpacking process fun.
My first impression when removing the bag from the box is "wow, it is really that heavy." I am not a professional and doubt the bag would be subjected to the conditions of a job site. However, there is no doubt in my mind that the design and quality of this bag will make it one to last for years. In fact I am sure that even on a job site daily these bags will stand up to the conditions.
In summary, I am very impressed and feel I made a very wise purchase. I will put it on my calendar to write back in one year and tell you what I stil think. I do not believe my opinion will change at all."

"I saw a tech using an LC at a festival in france and loved the look of it, he couldn't say enough good things about it.

I was using a flightcase built briefcase toolbox before the XL. Which whilst solid as a house, at 13KG without tools was a beast to carry round! The XL has already been out with me today on a church sound install, I do installation work as well as studio and touring sound engineering, and the best thing I found was at the end of the day whilst my work mate spent 20 minutes packing his tools away I just sat back and relaxed. The design of the XL meant I could just easily put back whatever I'd been using without wasting time. I've never had such a tidy workspace! Loving it already!
And suffice to say the lad I was working with wants one already.

Overall impression so far is the design is clever as hell and the build quality is as solid as my flightcase box. The true test will come later this month when I head off to Japan for a few festivals. The last trip resulted in a lot of damage to both box and tools. I swear baggage handlers take turns to try and break stuff.

I'm very interested in the laptop model. I've had several laptops damaged over the years travelling and currently use an eastpak laptop rucksack, which I have to admit is amazing. 4 years old and going strong, but it has zero tool specific storage and not much in the way of anything but large pockets beyond the laptop compartment. I have always been keeping an eye out for a replacement. I'm already going to submit a review of the XL to a couple of music tech mags I've written for and see if I can get it printed, might be worth it for the laptop bag too? As it's probably more suited to music tech mags than the XL. If I get my hands on the laptop version anytime soon I'll be sure to let you know.

"I first became aware of the Veto Pro Pac bags when they were mentioned in Tools of the Trade magazine a few years (4?) back. This was before the open top bags had been introduced....I had just started working for a non profit organization with 30 residential group homes for developmentally disabled individuals. So I needed a larger bag (with a low center of gravity) and some open areas for my torch and mapp gas bottle, pipe dope, pvc glue ect. I also wanted the open top bag because some of my plumbing tools are wet when they get put away. I figured they would dry faster in an open top bag (less rust on my tools). The other guys I work with love my closed top XL (they have not seen the OT-XXL yet). They all have their tools tossed into buckets and cheap Home Depot soft top bags. Their tools are all banged up. T'WAS A Veto Christmas

T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the vents,
not a BTU stirred, the damn Heat Pump was spent.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds.
While visions of super heat danced in their heads.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the tub to see what was the matter.

Away from the warmth I flew like a flash,
Hit the damn snow and froze my ash.

My vision was put to a series of tests,
By the moon shining off the Winter snow crests.

I focused my eyes, and what should appear,
But a miniature service truck and eight little things that I should fear.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

and the XXL. The XL has all of the handtools I use and a few basic
testing instruments. The XXL has hand tools I rarely use and larger
